Saudi Arabia: A key role player in the region
Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited from 12th to 13th October Jeddah. In the port city on the Red Sea, he met with his Saudi counterpart Prince Saud al-Faisal and Crown Prince Salman. In addition, Steinmeier met representatives of civil society and the secretary general of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Amin Madani. Steinmeier held talks on the situation in the Middle East and the threat of the terrorist militia ISIS.

The EU Embassies and the EU Delegation in Riyadh together with the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information will present a broad cultural programme with exhibitions, concerts and a film festival. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has held the prestigious ”Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development” since 2009 to promote the international exchange of innovative green ideas. The award, under the patronage of Minister Professor Johanna Wanka, honours 25 young researchers each year.
